Whether you are an established blogger or you are just starting out, there is a lot to the blog process. It’s easy to get lost or over whelmed. You absolutely need a blog planner.
Behind the Scenes
To be a successful blogger you need to sell your product or service. In order to do that, you need to post blog content that is going to draw readers to your site and keep them interested in your products. So how do you come up with that blog content? Research. Lots of research. Writing posts that provide useful information that they are craving. Creating graphics to catch their eye, and engaging them with clever social media posts. All the while you are creating new products and services.
Then, while you’re doing all that, you need to research advertising and affiliate links for passive income. And you need to schedule those social media posts you are creating, to gain followers and drive traffic to your site. Next, those graphics you need? You’re either shooting them yourself or digitally creating them with stock photos.
In addition to the blogging process mentioned above, you need to maintain your site. Pages need to be updated with new content and new graphics. Affiliate ads need to be rotated and updated. If you have a product store, you need to continue to add your new products and maintain those that are already listed.
All the while that you are creating content, creating products and services, maintaining your site, you need to market yourself. That means those social media posts I mentioned, including engaging with your followers when they comment. Marketing also includes creating regular emails for your email list. Emails that promote your products, your blog, and your site in general. With that, you’ll be replying to comments made on your blog posts, which is important for keeping your followers. Another marketing aspect is creating sales funnels for gaining new followers and new customers. Those sales funnels include some type of freebie that will entice your reader to join your list or purchase your product.
This is your bread and butter. Other than affiliate advertising to gain passive income, you need to offer your readers something that is solving a problem they have. That might be a digital product, video product, ebook, or a physical product. Whatever it is, it’s something you need to create and continually update and improve upon. Your digital products can pretty much be a set it and forget it thing. But, they do need to be updated periodically and potentially added to. Your products need to be fresh and relevant to what your target customers may need.
Tracking your Progress
As if you don’t have enough to do, you need to track your progress. First, you will need Google Analytics to track your site traffic. You need to track your followers on your social media sites and your email followers. Keeping a handle on all of these stats will enable you to stay ahead of what’s needed to keep your business and blog on track and moving forward.
